Reset and Recharge: EMDR-Inspired Tools for Teacher and Student Wellness

Part of CATCA 2026
Friday 20 February 2026·8:00 pm

Teaching can be both fulfilling and emotionally demanding. This one-hour session introduces the principles of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) — a therapy that helps the brain heal from stress and difficult experiences. Participants will gain a basic understanding of how EMDR works, why it’s effective for trauma and stress recovery, and how its core ideas can be applied in daily life. Through discussion and simple, practical exercises, teachers will explore grounding, bilateral movement, and self-soothing techniques that promote calm and focus. The session also highlights ways these same tools can be adapted for use with students to support regulation and resilience in the classroom.
