From Classroom to Newsroom: Empowering Beginning Writers Through Collaborative Publishing

This presentation explores a student-produced newspaper project in lower level writing courses. Framed by experiential learning, the approach empowers emerging writers as reporters, editors, and designers, practicing authentic communication and collaboration. Attendees will gain practical strategies and learn about challenges and successes from a year long classroom implementation to foster engagement, accountability, and confidence in novice writers.
