Strengthening Biliteracy Through Cross-Linguistic Connections
This session will deepen teachers' understanding of Cross-Linguistic Connections (CLC) as a core biliteracy key practice within Dual Language Education. Teachers will examine how intentional connections between languages strengthen metalinguistic awareness, vocabulary development, and academic language transfer without compromising language allocation. Through guided analysis of curricular materials, teachers will identify authentic opportunities for CLC within instruction and practice embedding structured discourse and reflection routines into daily lessons. By the end of the session, participants will leave with actionable strategies to integrate CLC into their units in ways that sustain academic rigor and promote biliteracy development. Language: Bilingual (Spanish/English) Grades: Pre-K, K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12
