Since Feeling is First
Friday 24 April 2026·6:15 pm
Rooted in E.E. Cummings poem, Since Feeling is First, this session will be a look at how we, as teachers, can engage students through poetry. Poems are an expression of being human. They are about human experiences. They are about FEELING. This session will demonstrate different strategies for teaching poetry in junior and senior high classrooms. Specifically, it will explore how to expose students to a variety of poems, how to engage students with poetry and how to choose poems that are relevant to students. Through poetry, we can help give students a positive outlet for their feelings while teaching our curriculum.
