Large Language Models can think. For our classrooms this is true enough, whatever one thinks thought to be. If so, these new silicon thinkers beyond and beside our brains anywhere, anytime, must be transforming our world and ourselves, and our schools. This presentation asks when and where (if at all) students should use AI, and what such devices require of us to even speak accurately of them. Since developers and entrepreneurs alike speak of AI agency, perhaps we should rather ask when and where (if at all) AI should use students? Stop in for a splash of the tech and the research, some remarks about curricula, and perhaps a reflection on the now antique ethical footings schools have sat upon for centuries. All in 50 minutes? Yes, and room for discussion as well.
