Embracing Learner Variability: Universal Design for Learning in the Band Room

Every band classroom is filled with students who learn, engage, and express themselves in unique ways. This session explores how the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework can empower band teachers to proactively plan for learner variability in elementary and secondary settings. Participants will examine practical, research-informed approaches to increase access, equity, and musical growth in their ensembles. Attendees will leave equipped to apply UDL principles to strengthen rehearsal strategies, assessment practices, and classroom culture.
