Musical Adventures in Social and Emotional Learning with Children’s Literature!

Children's literature can provide wonderful opportunities to create music with students! A book can be orchestrated or provide characters to create leitmotifs, investigate concepts, or provide ideas ripe for musical exploration. In this hands-on workshop, I’ll share lessons created with children’s books addressing topics of self-awareness, self-management, responsible decision-making, relationship skills, and social awareness that combine listening, performing, and creating music. Each lesson will give teachers ideas for meeting the learning needs of all students.
