Friday 6 March 2026·5:30 pm

Tired of hearing "I don't know what to write"? This engaging, step-by-step session will show teachers how to use picture books as mentor texts to teach story structure, voice, and creativity. Participants will explore a range of mentor books that exemplify key story plots - and learn how to guide students from imitation to innovation. Session Objectives: 1. Analyze story components (character, setting, problem, events, solution). 2. Build vocabulary and sensory detail. 3. Model grammar and conventions in authentic contexts. 3. Reimagine mentor texts by changing the characters, setting, or point of view.
