From Labels to Leadership: Strength-Based Strategies to Advance Middle School Culture
Middle school is a season when labels like “shy,” “bossy,” or “unmotivated” can define students more than their potential. This interactive session equips educators with a strength-based lens to move beyond labels by understanding student personalities and how they shape behavior, motivation, and leadership potential. Participants will engage in activities to reframe common labels, explore personality-informed strategies for uncovering student strengths, and practice tools for creating authentic leadership opportunities in the classroom. Through reflection, collaboration, and practical takeaways, attendees will leave with ready-to-use strategies and templates to: (1) identify and affirm student strengths through personality insights, (2) design classroom roles and activities that match diverse personalities, and (3) foster a school culture where every middle schooler feels seen as a leader. Transform labels into leadership by leveraging the power of personalities to build belonging, confidence, and responsibility.
