Local Action, Global Impact: The Power of Global Learning and Bilingualism

Join Freebird McKinney, Co-Chair of the newly established NC Coalition for Global Education, for an inspiring session on the transformative power of global learning/bilingualism and how it can serve as a gateway to the world, preparing students to thrive in an interconnected and competitive global workforce. This session will highlight innovative strategies from partner Global Leaders and Dual Language Immersion programs, showcasing how they operationalize both the NC Portrait of a Graduate and Superintendent Green's strategic plan, as well as foster a globally-focused school culture, and engage students in impactful “Local Action/ Global Impact” projects. Freebird will also explore how schools build connections through strategic partnerships and global initiatives. By sharing the Global Leaders and Dual Language pillars, this session will emphasize the need for approaches that equip students with the skills and perspectives to tackle both local and global challenges. These examples and session activities will illustrate how global education can shape society positively, preparing students not only for career readiness but also for actualizing as active, engaged global citizens.
