Adolescent Literacy- This is Your Brain on Reading

Adolescent literacy acceleration demands more than tradition or intuition. This highly interactive session weaves neuroscience, the Science of Reading, and Visible Learning research to examine how the adolescent brain learns to read—and why many secondary practices unintentionally gatekeep access. Participants will confront outdated mindsets, explore inclusion-centered brain research, and redesign instruction using evidence-aligned strategies that honor students’ strengths, needs, and developmental preferences while improving engagement, comprehension, and learning outcomes.
