E Pluribus Unum: Using Autobiographies to Educate, Advocate, and Empower

In this workshop, K-12 teachers will learn how to use autobiographies to help students learn about themselves and others. Uses for autobiographies will include how to advocate for issues that concern society and how using self-authored texts can empower the author and the readers to connect the humanity in us all. Participants will engage with mentor texts, design lesson strategies, and experience activities that foster student voice and civic literacies through autobiographies.
