Fostering Empathy Through Diverse and Inclusive Literature

Empathy grows through stories. This session shows how diverse, inclusive literature helps children see themselves, understand others, and embrace different perspectives. Using Rudine Sims Bishop’s “windows, mirrors, and sliding glass doors,” participants will gain evidence-based strategies to build inclusive collections, guide reflection, and nurture empathy as a foundation for community.
