Half-Truths and Hidden Figures: Exploring Women's and Racial Inequality in YA Literature

Half-Truths depicts the misperceptions of racial stereotypes and women’s roles during Jim Crow. Hidden Figures portrays how four Black women overcame discrimination against women and Blacks in NASA. Attendees will leave with strategies that strengthen students’ abilities to read analytically, help them reflect on inequality, and draw connections to their communities.
