Unified Sports - More than a Game
This active, hands-on session will immerse educators in the power of Unified Sports—programs that bring together students with and without intellectual disabilities on the same team. Through inclusive school sports, team-building exercises, and adapted physical activities, participants will experience firsthand how Unified Sports fosters inclusion, leadership, and belonging within school communities. The session will also include: - Practical steps to start or strengthen a Unified program - Discussion on how Unified aligns with inclusive education outcomes, wellness strategies, and student leadership goals - In-person Athlete and Partner duo to share their success and experience. Educators will leave inspired, energized, and equipped with the resources to bring Unified Sports to their own schools—no prior experience required! Target Audience: coaches, athletic directors, administrator and adapted learning teachers from Grades 7-12.
