Game Club - Where Everybody Knows Your Name

Making your way in school today takes everything you got. Taking a break from all your homework sure would help a lot.Isn't it time to come and play? Sometimes they want to go where everybody knows their name. And they're always glad they came. Kids want to be where they can see, troubles are all the same. Game Clubs can be where everybody knows their name.Good games are engines for engagement. They provide meaningful context for problem solving, social interaction, and development of so-called "soft skills." Perhaps more importantly, good games are also fun! In this session Lucas will share tips on starting your own school-based game club. From tabletop games to roleplay games, esports to console gaming, there are vast opportunities to bring students together to engage in meaningful interaction and even [ninja] learning. You'll learn how games like Mario Kart, Dungeons and Dragons, and Ticket to Ride can both entertain and educate when used in a club setting or in the classroom. Lucas will share his experiences and best practices when hosting a game club in his district and share how he has been able to grow his club's library of games over the years.
