Take a trip back in time to prove that geometry, algebra, and number sense are totally awesome! Forget the Valley Girl mall trip, this is a radical remodel project where math rules the airwaves. In Retro Room Designer, students become high-powered design consultants hired to transform a client’s tired space into an ‘80s dream room. This isn’t just about neon and geometric prints; it’s a serious math mission! Students will research the real-world cost of paint, flooring, and wicked decor, then use ratios and proportional reasoning to scale their blueprints and ensure the estimates are on the money. Using linear equations and inequalities, our designers must calculate a strict project budget. The final presentation is a digital multimedia slideshow, where students will use technology to showcase their floor plans, detailed budget breakdown, and final design - proving they have the power to crunch numbers and get a silent to say “Like, totally yes!!! Get ready to see how math can turn a plain room into a righteous, high-scoring renovation!
