Totally Clueless About CFAs? Schoolnet’s Got You Covered, Duh!
Get totally tied into the power of Schoolnet! While this presentation may call dibs on Science, the skills are totally applicable to all core subjects, including Math, Language Arts, and Social Studies. In this session, we’ll fast-track your skills in designing and utilizing Common Formative Assessments (CFAs) for your Professional Learning Network (PLN). You’ll learn how to quickly leverage Schoolnet’s standards-aligned question bank to create CFAs that precisely align with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study. We'll dive into incorporating technology-enhanced items and constructing multi-item question sets by utilizing the "group items by passage" feature—crucial for mirroring the rigor of assessments like the 5th and 8th grade science EOGs. Additionally, we’ll ensure IEP and 504 compliance by reviewing Accessibility Tools and TestNav PNP (Personal Needs Profile) to seamlessly integrate testing accommodations like 'read aloud' and 'extended time.' Administering a test in Schoolnet allows students to gain experience navigating a platform similar to EOGs and NCCIs (NC Check Ins) - and you know what they say: practice makes perfect! Finally, it's time to 'boot up and go digital as we explore the test delivery options, covering features like tracking response time, scrambling question and response order, administering the CFA in a secure browser, and applying time limits—all designed to optimize the assessment experience. Monitor students' progress in real time with the Proctor Dashboard to quickly gauge student performance with color-coded item analysis. If we're not "saved by the bell", any remaining time will be spent looking at how to analyze the rich data generated post-assessment, including detailed item analysis, and proficiency broken down by subgroup. We'll also check out ways to share your newly created assessments with colleagues via the "shared folder" option. After this session, you'll no longer be clueless because your assessments will be all that AND a bag of chips!! Slides: bit.ly/schoolnetncties26 (Will be available at time of session.)
