Wired Entomology: Metamorphosis from Caterpillar to Code
Part of NCTIES 2026
Thursday 5 March 2026·3:30 pm
An interdisciplinary project between classroom teachers and the librarian that nurtures literacy, scientific inquiry, robotics, and coding while promoting sustainability and creativity. Extending their Literacy unit on insects, students create an insect model using recycled materials, a Micro:bit and a Mini Coding Robot Car Kit, to create a replica of their creature. Using coding skills, they will program the insect to interact with the environment using sound, motion, and light sensors.
