Melodic Orchestration: Transferring Rhythms to Orff and Recorder - Part 2

Thursday 19 February 2026·5:30 pm

In this advanced session, we move beyond rhythm to explore pitch-based composition and orchestration. Using the rhythmic pieces created in Part 1 as a foundation, participants will learn techniques for assigning melodic lines using pentatonic scales, ensuring immediate student success on Orff instruments and the recorder. We will cover practical strategies for instrument setup, easy melodic writing (bourdons, ostinati), and layering parts to create a rich, yet accessible, melodic ensemble texture. This session provides the blueprint for moving compositions from simple rhythm studies to full, melodic arrangements.
