Networks for Innovation: Leveraging Social Capital to Help School Leaders Elevate and Flourish

Thursday 19 February 2026·8:00 pm

School leadership is increasingly defined by complexity, uncertainty, and emotional strain. Too often, leaders feel isolated in the very roles designed to connect others. Drawing from his doctoral research and practical leadership experience, Dr. Corey Steeves explores how social capital, the strength of our professional relationships and networks, can be intentionally built to enhance leadership effectiveness, innovation, and well-being. This session blends research and real-world practice to show how school leaders can move from leading alone to leading through connection. Participants will examine how networks shape decision-making, communication, and collective problem-solving within schools. Dr. Steeves introduces reflective tools and frameworks to help leaders identify, expand, and leverage their networks to create stronger, more adaptive systems. Attendees will leave with actionable strategies to foster collaboration, reduce isolation, and lead with clarity, confidence, and collective purpose.
