Podcasting in Canva
Unleash your students' creative potential in this focused, hands-on session centred on digital storytelling through podcasting. We will begin by focusing on the core elements of a great narrative, ensuring students can structure compelling, engaging content. From there, you will learn to use Canva’s integrated recording tools, starting with the in-app recording studio's "Record yourself" feature to capture student interviews and narrations in both audio-only and video formats. Next, we will dive into the Video Editor's multi-track timeline, where you will master essential production techniques: layering and syncing multiple audio tracks (voices, music, and sound effects), and applying precision edits like trimming, volume balancing, and fade effects to polish the final narrative flow. We will conclude by learning how to create a visually striking podcast cover art—the "book cover" for your student's story—using Canva's graphic design capabilities, ensuring the visual element is as powerful as the audio. By the end of this session, you will be equipped to guide your students through the entire podcasting process, turning class content into creative, published digital projects. To maximize your hands-on learning, please bring a personal device, such as a Chromebook.
