Backward Design With Purpose in Mind

When choosing learning activities to implement as part of our lessons, being clear in our purpose is essential for achieving the intended student learning outcomes. Between free public source curriculum materials, active online professional learning communities across multiple platforms and AI, finding or creating potential activities has never been easier. However, it is critical that educators consider the context in which these activities will be utilized, including such factors as school and community culture, student identities, student experiences and skill levels, facility and equipment availability and class size. In this session, participants will be introduced to a physical education creative framework that physical educators can use to personalize learning experiences for their setting and are engaging and meaningful for their students and are aligned to SHAPE America's National Physical Education Standards.
