Communication and Connection: Teaching the Skills Students Are Losing
Part of 2026 SHAPE America National Convention & ExpoPresented by Westerling, Michelle, & Westerling, Michelle
Friday 20 March 2026·1:30 pm
Back with fresh ideas to get health and PE students working together; speaking up for themselves; sharing with the class; and communicating comfortably, effectively, and respectfully with each other. As students rely increasingly on digital devices, they get less practice communicating, collaborating, and negotiating in-person. This session is full of engaging, active, inclusive strategies to help all students enhance communication and relationship skills and build connections. All activities apply to all levels of health, PE, and/or SEL programs.
