Dance Odyssey: Exploring Culture Through Movement

Teaching dance as a cultural exploration is a powerful way to foster understanding, empathy, and global awareness among students. Through movement, students gain a deeper appreciation for diverse traditions while developing their own voices through artistic expression. This session offers a variety of movement explorations, discussions, and resources around dance genres such as Latinx, hip-hop, Indian, Arabic Folk, West and South African, and many more. Dance becomes a bridge that connects individuals to the stories, values, and histories or cultures around the world, promoting inclusion and preserving heritage. By celebrating the richness of human diversity through the universal language of dance, we help cultivate a more compassionate, connected, and joyful learning environment. Participants will engage in dynamic movement and meaningful dialogue to spark classroom engagement, enhance cultural understanding, and most importantly, have fun!
