Demonstrating Program Performance With Impactful Data

Friday 20 March 2026·8:00 am

Many physical education programs do not receive the support that other academic programs receive. This presentation will provide details of policies and programs implemented as a district moved from "survival strategies" to "thriving strategies." Examples shown are related to policies, goals, student achievement forms, data points assessed, portfolio sections, and tracking forms. Included will be examples of student data points collected systematically, content found in student portfolios, and student growth and learning achievement. Relationships between fitness achievement and school attendance, academic achievement, and student behavior will be displayed.

Great support was provided by a fully functioning School Wellness Council. Teachers received technology support through heart rate monitors, devices for daily input of student achievement, creation of student portfolios, and a district-wide data management program. Data management was accessed by individual teachers, the district coordinator, and all administrators. Program results elevated funding to a level comparable to other subjects.
