The role of year level co-ordinator (YLC) is a critical third-party intervention to support active problem solving so students and teachers can work more effectively together, strengthening skills and capacity. This session will offer opportunities to learn and develop your skills including: 1. Communicate with clarity and confidence 2. Handle difficult conversations with parents, staff, and students 3. Understand why students escalate 4. Build effective coping and de‑escalation strategies 5. Use proactive, solution‑focused problem‑solving 6. Review serious incidents using a prevent–prepare–respond–recover framework 7. Strengthen your time and focus as a YLC ensuring clarity of priorities, boundaries and workflow systems.
