Post-16 biology & chemistry learning resources using research databases

Friday 9 January 2026·1:35 pm

We have been collaborating with 3 worldwide research databases to develop learning resources for post-16 biology and chemistry students since 2010. These resources are peer-produced by A-level students doing a Nuffield Research Placement and/or UG chemistry students doing summer or final year projects. The databases involved are: 1. CCDC (Cambridge Crystallographic Data Centre) - a chemistry resource; 2. PDBe (Protein Data Bank in Europe) - a chemistry and biology resource; 3. LIPID MAPS - a biology resource. In this drop-in session delegates will be able to find out more about the resources from the project supervisor and take away flyers with links to the website where the resources are stored. The resources will also be demonstrated to delegates on laptops and/or on screen if required.
