Literacy Intervention for Adolescents

We are at a point in education where we see learners at all reading and spelling stages in one classroom and that can pose a challenge to educators looking to address literacy difficulties. Most of us at the Middle and High School levels were never taught how to teach kids to learn because they are expected to know how once they get to our classrooms. If they can't, what do we do? This session will outline some of the research being done on adolescent literacy development and provide space for teachers to discuss literacy challenges in their classrooms.I will outline the programming and strategies I have used successfully in my teaching to support struggling readers and build their literacy skills towards grade level proficiency.
