Attachment in the Classroom

Part of GETCA 2026
Thursday 26 February 2026·8:00 pm

Attachment Theory: Understanding attachment theory is crucial for creating emotionally safe and responsive classroom environments. This workshop will explore how different attachment styles influence student behaviour, engagement, and relationships with teachers and peers. Drawing from both foundational work, as well as recent developments in educational psychology, we will examine how attachment needs manifest in school settings. Teachers will gain practical strategies to foster secure connections, support students with insecure attachment patterns, and create a classroom culture that promotes trust and emotional regulation. The session will be delivered by world-renowned Child and Educational Psychologist Dr. Pippa Busch, bringing both deep expertise and a practical lens to the topic.
