Healing the Great Disconnect- Honoring and Exploring Pathways of Healing Through Nurturing Meaningful Connection with Living Systems
Disconnection from natural systems and seasonal rhythms has had a profound effect on how we view ourselves within the context of our ecological community. Is it easier for us to do harm towards nature because we think we are not connected to or a part of the living ecology? The fact is that we have a vested interest in developing respectful interactions with the ecosystems that sustain us. In what ways has our current disconnected and degenerative paradigm influenced our relationship with seasonal currency and the ways in which we meet our food needs today? During this presentation we will explore together how fundamentally important these connections were to the societal fabric of ancestral peoples, how we can look to natural systems as our guide towards understanding the importance of living in connection, and various ways we can build layers of meaningful connection into our food-growing practices, allowing us to come back into relationship with our living community. We’ll discuss how simple attitudes like gratitude, respect, love and sincerity can transform our growing practices from mundane to meaningful, and help bring us back into balance with seasonal rhythms. Fostering deeper levels of connection can provide powerful healing pathways for us as individuals and for our communities, physically, emotionally, spiritually and culturally.
