Want to make poetry come alive in your classroom? Want your students to engage with poetry in new and meaningful ways? We'll explore effective poetry teaching techniques and approaches that go beyond traditional analysis. From spoken word and performance to creative writing and visual poetry, you'll discover ways to make poetry interactive, personal, and engaging for all learners. We'll also look at how poetry can be integrated into history and social studies, using it as a lens to explore Indigenous voices, Canadian history, the Renaissance, and Japan. Session Objectives: 1. Enhance students' engagement and understanding of poetry 2. Integrate poetry meaningfully into Social Studies and History content 3. Support students in interpreting and responding to poetry from multiple perspectives
