Unlocking Math Vocabulary Through Word Study

This cross-curricular session will bring ELAL morphology directly into your math classroom. Discover how analyzing word roots, prefixes, and suffixesâ€- and exploring the origins of termsâ€- can make complex math vocabulary more approachable for students. Teachers will explore practical strategies to help students decode and understand math terms, strengthening conceptual understanding while keeping learning engaging. Session Objectives: 1. Explore how morphology supports vocabulary development. 2. Apply word study strategies in the context of math learning. 3. Build a toolkit of teaching approaches that connect ELAL and Math outcomes.
