Unpacking the New Grades 7-9 Curriculum: Architecture, Collaboration & Practical Tools (Double Session)
Get ready to dive into Alberta's new Grades 7-9 math curriculum in this dynamic double session designed for junior high math educators. Together, we will unpack key shifts in curriculum architecture, review supporting documents, and examine how knowledge, understandings, skills and procedures are intentionally sequenced across grades. Participants will work alongside colleagues to adapt and align classroom resources. This session will provide dedicated time to begin shaping plans to support a successful implementation. Session Objectives: 1. Participants will analyze and understand key shifts in the Grades 7-9 Alberta math curriculum architecture and progression. 2. Participants will utilize supporting curriculum documents to inform and guide classroom planning and resource alignment. 3. Participants will engage in collaborative planning to share ideas and pedagogical approaches for effective curriculum implementation.
