Fostering Relationships and Critical Thinking through Advisory-Based Activities
Since the beginning of the middle school model in the 1970s, advisory programs have been an important component to help foster student development. It is no secret that it is becoming increasingly difficult for schools to consistently provide advisory programs. So how can teachers infuse advisory activities and concepts into the everyday classroom? This hands-on session highlights how to engage students in meaningful activities that highlight the tenets of advisory, while fostering positive relationships and engaging students in critical thinking. Participants will engage with numerous small group activities that can immediately be used in the classroom. And you might even have a few minutes of fun!
