The Top 2 Priorities Facing NC Middle Schools in 2025

North Carolina middle schools in 2025 continue to face serious challenges with classroom behavior and academic rigor. Due to behavior issues, teachers are unable to teach to the extent necessary for adequate learning for all students. Likewise, the pressure of high EOG test scores continues to influence instruction in a way that neglects important aspects of a quality education. This presentation analyzes these two problems and provides research-backed strategies for dealing with them. Upon completion of the session, participants should have an enhanced understanding of these two issues as well as strategies for improving them.
