Using Reading Routines in the Middle School Classroom

Monday 23 March 2026·7:00 pm

Grounded in the Science of Reading, this session explores how middle level teachers can intentionally strengthen the pillars of Fluency, Vocabulary, and Comprehension across all content areas. Participants will engage with research-based routines—such as first and close reading strategies, annotation protocols, and context-clue practices—that foster independent reading habits. The session will highlight how these routines can be adapted for both literature and informational texts, ensuring students build the stamina and strategies needed to comprehend complex material in every classroom. Attendees will leave with practical, classroom-ready tools that are simple to implement, yet powerful in supporting adolescent literacy growth.
