Exploring Privilege with a Middle-Aged White Guy

All kids want to succeed, and the self-made man is largely a myth (The self-made woman doesn’t even get a myth about her!) If you mistakenly think that your failing students just need to “work harder” and “stop being lazy” this is a session you should probably attend. While tackling controversial topics we will try to examine and understand some of the visible and invisible advantages that some students have been gifted by fortune and that other student have had taken from them. We will then explore ways we can create learning environments that work for everyone.
