Supporting Executive Functions Deficits (ADHD) in the Classroom (Part B)

Part of NCTCA 2026
Thursday 5 February 2026·9:00 pm

This presentation explores how executive function challenges impact learning and behavior in the classroom. Based on Thomas Brown’s (2012) model, we will focus on six key executive functions: activation, focus, effort, emotion, memory, and action. Participants will gain a practical understanding of how these functions affect students' ability to plan, start tasks, stay engaged, regulate emotions, recall information, and complete work. The session will provide targeted strategies to support students with executive function deficits and show how these approaches can be seamlessly integrated into daily instruction, routines, and classroom management. Whether you're working with diagnosed students or those struggling with attention, organization, or self-regulation, this session will offer tools to help all learners succeed more independently.
