The Colony Taught Me Too- Lessons from Teaching on a Hutterite Colony

This informative and reflective session will focus on the challenges and rewards of working on a Hutterite colony. Gain practical insights into culturally responsive teaching in relation to Hutterite culture and way of life, and teaching and living in a rural setting compared to an urban inner city school. In this authentic and engaging session, I’ll share stories from my first two years on the colony: the surprises, challenges, and lessons that have shaped me as an educator. The goal of the session is to be informative for those who do not have experience with Colony teaching while being a relatable, reflective session for new or seasoned Colony teachers.
