Tuesday 17 March 2026·8:00 am

Join a SHAPE America Southern District Health Education Teacher of the Year as she shares best practices and skills-based assessments that encourage a student-centered classroom. We'll explore a variety of instructional strategies, such as philosophical chairs, jigsaw, scenario-based assessments, group work, and the use of choice boards, that help teachers become more of a facilitator and allow active student participation and collaboration. In addition, we'll explore strategies for differentiation to encourage students to take control of their learning and gain independence. Participants will gather 10 skills-based activities and assessments that encourage collaboration and active learning to add to their teacher toolbox. This presentation is ideal for middle and high school health educators.
