Periodicals Reviewers' Workshop

This informative and hands-on workshop is intended for qualified individuals who are interested in reviewing articles for JOPERD and Strategies; it is also recommended as a refresher for current reviewers. Sample articles will be emailed to each registrant to review before the workshop. After an explanation of the review process and its place in the academic publishing system, Managing Editor Laura Strecker will facilitate a discussion about the sample manuscript reviews. Includes a brief break and time for Q&A. Potential reviewers should (1) be familiar with each journal’s Guidelines for Authors (see JOPERD and Strategies), (2) read the journals regularly to understand typical content and know the audience; (3) be familiar with current research, issues, and trends; and (4) have published articles in one or both of the journals (or similar publications) in the past.
