Keeping Middle School Girls Engaged in Physical Activity

A 2020 Report by Canadian Women & Sport, in partnership with Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities noted that girls participate in sports is significantly less than boys. 1 in 3 girls drop out of sports by late adolescence, whereas the rate for boys is 1 in 10. By the age of 18, over 60% of girls are no longer regularly participating in sports. This session will review the common barriers that are preventing girls from engaging in athletics and discuss school based strategies to keep more girls in sports. 26 Participants
