Could we collaborate please? Benefits of coteaching literacy during Science class

In a 70-30 model, two experienced teachers share their coteaching experience with first and second graders in a Dual Language / Two-Way School. This is their first time collaborating, having the goal of supporting the development of their students’ English oral and written proficiency during Science instruction. Although working together has been challenging at times, it has also been satisfying to witness the bilingual, biliteracy and bicultural benefits for their Spanish and English learners. Presenters will provide concrete examples on how they’re merging language instruction, planning SEI strategies and embedding translanguaging activities while teaching standard based Science content in English.
