The PD Exchange

Integrating Anchor Charts for Daily Instruction & Bridging

Saturday 7 March 2026·2:45 pm

This session focuses on practical and intentional approaches to using anchor charts during daily classroom instruction to support all learners, with particular emphasis on multilingual learners (MLLs). Participants will learn how to design clear, purposeful anchor charts, determine strategic placement within the classroom, and model how students can effectively use them during lessons and independent work. Using authentic examples, participants will explore how anchor charts can be intentionally designed to promote comprehensible input and support bridging and cross-linguistic transfer. The session will highlight how deliberate language choices such as targeted vocabulary, sentence structures, and academic language to foster metalinguistic awareness and deepen content understanding. Participants will engage in discussion and reflection around practical strategies for implementing anchor charts across content areas. By the end of the session, educators will leave with a clear understanding of how to use anchor charts as daily instructional tools that promote cross-linguistic transfer and support long-term learning.
