Want to make the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and Collective Rights come alive for your Grade 9 students? Want to engage them with meaningful projects that connect these topics to real-world issues? We'll explore engaging projects and activities that help students critically analyze and apply their learning. From connections to ELA through the business letter, to source analysis and a structured essay writing unit, students will build essential skills in argumentation, critical thinking, and civic literacy. Through debates, case studies, and source based activities, students will not only understand their rights and responsibilities but also develop persuasive writing and analytical skills. you'll walk away with ready-to-use lessons, activities, and strategies to make these topics engaging, relevant, and impactful in your classroom! Session Objectives: 1. Deepen student understanding of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, the Youth Criminal Justice Act, and Collective Rights 2. Develop students' civic literacy and argumentation skills 3. Enhance students' ability to analyze sources and express informed opinions
