Coaching Classrooms for Student Agency
Effective leaders don’t just lead teachers, they cultivate classrooms where students take ownership of their learning. This workshop explores how leaders can embed a coaching approach in classrooms, guiding teachers to develop students who think deeply, reflect critically, and demonstrate resourcefulness from a young age. By observing, listening, and asking purposeful questions, leaders can strengthen teachers’ capacity to foster active learning, inquiry, and metacognition. Participants will discover strategies to promote independence, critical thinking, and problem-solving in students, while aligning coaching practices with high-quality teaching standards and school improvement goals. The session demonstrates how leaders can shape classroom culture to support student agency, sustained engagement, and personalized learning. Leaders will leave equipped with actionable approaches to embed a coaching mindset in classrooms, creating confident, capable, and self-directed learners while building leadership capacity across their school
