Creating Impact: Education for Sustainable Development.

Educating for impact requires more than delivering content—it demands a dynamic ecosystem grounded in a sustainable growth mindset. Traditional models focused on knowledge transmission are rapidly becoming obsolete, especially in the age of AI. Schools must now ask: What impact do we want to have on learners? If the goal is to nurture innovative, self-directed learners who can adapt and thrive in a changing world, then educators need new skills, and schools need new systems. According to the World Economic Forum’s 2025 Future of Jobs Report, the top five competencies for the future are: analytical thinking, resilience, leadership, creative thinking, and motivation/self-awareness. These can be intentionally developed—but only within an ecosystem that clearly defines its desired impacts and builds in structures for evaluating and refining them. This workshop will explore the theory and research behind these ideas, share examples of schools already creating meaningful impact, and provide time for participants to reflect on and plan how to apply these insights in their own contexts. Middle and whole-school leadership teams, district and regional managers/directors, and educational consultants are invited to attend. Participants will be able to articulate why developing a growth mindset rooted in core competencies is both possible and essential for learners by understanding how schools are ecosystems. Further, participants will explore how to define, evaluate, and sustain high-impact learning aligned with future needs. Finally, participants will leave with practical ideas and next steps for applying these concepts in their own school communities.
