Beyond the Classroom: Building Trust and Leadership through Home Visits for Multilingual Learners

This interactive session will explore how our Parent Teacher Home Visits (PTHV) program is transforming family engagement and centering that English and Spanish (as well as other languages spoken) are on equal footing. Participants will learn how home visits; conducted across multiple schools have increased trust, improved communication, and led to stronger partnerships between families and educators. Through real stories, feedback from families, and actionable strategies, attendees will see how honoring families as co-leaders in learning can strengthen student success. We’ll also share how we intentionally use the visits to: Center student strengths and family insights in instructional planning of our families that speak other languages leveraging their language and culture.Invite parents into mentoring roles viewing their home language as a strengthAnd cultivate empathy and equity in our school culture.Leave with practical tools to implement or expand a home visit program in your own community.
