Creating the Conditions for Biliteracy: Climate, Instruction, and Belonging

Biliteracy flourishes when students learn in environments that foster safety, engagement, and belonging. This session explores how intentional school climate and instructional practices create the conditions necessary for bilingual learners to thrive academically and linguistically. Through a leadership and coaching lens, participants will examine practical strategies that promote oral language, student voice, and identity across classrooms and schoolwide settings. Attendees will leave with concrete, transferable practices to strengthen bilingual learning environments—without adopting a new program—by aligning climate, instruction, and belonging to support biliteracy for all students.
